boris!

anyway, i'm on fire mixwise today, have another: http://www.edpetersen.plus.com/Ed_P_%20050906.mp3 starts off smooth, fortunately digs a bit deeper as it gets going, oh and the beats match, for those that care for seamlessness

Cheers for this. It should make a good going to the crag car cd.

If I remember rightly, there's a smattering of Audion (Matthew Dear) fans out there. I've been sessioning some sheet off the Spectral label, and The Conservation of Electric Charge stands out.

the usual suspect will give you some samples bleep.com

Duh! Forgot to write that it was by Bodycode (ace album sleeve isn't it?). Cheers for the mix soapy, I'll check it now. I've had "Experience Yoga Nidra" on in the background this afternoon. Hope the sudden transition to this mix isn't too drastic!

Jeffrey Lewis - It's The Ones Who've Cracked The Light Shines Through.
The new one "City and Eastern Songs" is pretty cool as well.
He does comics too.

New DJ Shadow "The Outsider" is definitely a grower; Broken Levee Blues is great.

Only had one listen to the Outsider so far but didn't really like it. Not a typical Shadow album, loads of crunky sounding tunes with a few random indie/bluesy tracks thrown in. Doesn't really work as an album but could be a grower. Broken Levee Blues definitely a class tune.

First listen, I thought the same thing. 5th or 6th time, it starts to "resolve" itself. Agree it's not a typical DJS album though, even though I don't think he has released enough to have a "typical" yet though.

I'll probably change my mind after a few listens and declare it the best DJ Shadow album of all time.

For anyone that likes a bit of aggressive and shouty punk rock, the Bronx's newish self-titled album is very good. It's a bit more chilled than their last album, which in my opinion has led to some better songs.

The Drips new self-titled album also has a similar sort of sound but is not as good. They are made up of various members of different punk bands including The Bronx. You can download the two best songs off the album from their myspace site http://www.myspace.com/thedrips.

Can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but I absolutely love Hard to Beat by Hard-Fi:

The video is a bit naff, but the song rules.

Like New Order crossed with a bit of The Jam. Soaring euphoric, get-up-and-go music.

Been sessioning Dykehouse's Dynamic Obsolescense over the last few days. A rather nice tune called The Patina of Accumulation off it has been pushing my buttons tonight.

and of course myspace:

Apologies for my repeated plugging of Ghostly/Spectral artists, but it's been a welcome discovery of late.

nice one mono,

if you're starting to dabble with US postage, i recommend getting hold of this compilation:
It's importland for me to be one step further than one step beyond - HCM02 - holocene music

reviewed here: http://www.groovesmag.com/review_item.php?id=00000250

inevitable sample (though by no means representative, the cd is eclectic)

Great sample cheers Soapy. Really don't know a lot about US minimal techno labels, would love to hear of some more though. Anything Matthew Dearish would be a much appreciated recommendation.

I saw yesterday on a flyer that they're playing in Liverpool on my birthday in October. Never actually heard them, but maybe might make a good night out?

Oh and for those interested, James Holden is playing at a night called Bleep at the Carling Academy in Liverpool in mid November.

oh, which reminds me. Mathew Dear is playing in Liverpool in October. Can't remember the exact date but I'll find out and get to you, if someone doesn't do it first. I'll definitely be going. If you haven't heard matthew dear play live you will be shocked to find that his live sets are not exactly minimal.  :dance1:

Class! I've been listening to him all afternoon as well as Dj Koze who I've recently discovered. I'm definitely there.

Fingathing are playing in Liverpool on the 23rd Sept (I think). I know little about them other than a lot of people seem to like them.
