The Yellow Moon Band Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World.  Instrumental pysch/folk/prog but with a errr I dunno uplifting screamadelica kind of feel to it.  Ace stuff and nice Summer Music.  I also got a 12" remix of three of the tracks that are more driving and dancy.. proper summertime  :dance1:  Those of you going to the Green Man will hopefully see them live.

Cheers for the heads up FD, will check them out come August

Heard this track on Gideon Coe's show on 6 music the other night. It's been a long time since I've heard such an incredible piece of music.

Liking the sound of that - looks like it could be an expensive recommendation after putting it into Amazon as there is apparently a new Stars of the Lid album out as well as a release from the other member of SOTL under the name The Dead Texan.

For those who like their drones a bit heavier there is a new Erstlaub release available - limited to the usual 100 copies.

Just discovered Susumu Yokota's Grinning Cat album which is really blowing me away at the minute. Sounds a bit like 4 Tet (who I suspect he was a major influence for) but is a bit less cohesive overall.

A great album for the sunny weather we are experiencing at the minute.

Good album BB...

Sakura & The Boy and The Tree are also good, very mellow almost ambient background music.  He's also a prolific house producer recording under his own name so it can be a bit of a surprise to buy another CD like Magic Thread which is very different from the three already mentioned.

Sakura was the album that had been recommended to me as being the one to go for but I found Grinning Cay on Ebay for £4 delivered so went for the cheap option to see what it was like. It's currently on its third rotation today - that's how impressed I am by it!

Just read the review of Magic Thread on Amazon and it sounds like something else that will have to be added to the list along with the other two recommendations.  ;D

Aye, well worth bigging up, been listening to this for a good few weeks now.

Some dope shit at Data Transmission (Podcasts)

Particularly liking the current DJ Vadim Mix and a treat for all DJ Yoda fans is hidden in the archives under Cut & Paste : Country & Western Edition.

Enjoy  :)

Aye - some good mixes on that site - most of the recent RA podcasts have been dull as hell so it's nice to find something different.

This weeks essential mix is some dubstep dj called Caspa. I dont think I like dubstep, but I havent turned this off yet. T+35mins is a good tune. You will find it on the iPlayer until Friday.

And as torrents in MP2 and MP3 on the excellent The Mixing Bowl (they also carry pretty much all of the Essential Mixes back to around 1994 in their archives too, mainly as MegaTorrent year packs, but you need to have upped a certain amount and have a good ratio to get the MegaTorrents).

Got a nice lil GoodGroove Records DJ promo recently, James Brown Regrooved; pretty much as described, some great interpretations though (cos remixes can so often be shit and / or so way off from the original that they might as well not be remixes, IMO), so I rather like it - and it's all over the internet for free downloads now so I'd recommend a Google, some nice little bangers on it.....

Good heads up there underground enjoying the remixes too, cheers.

Not so much Funky, more Quirky but I'm really enjoying Regina Spektor after hearing Folding Chair on the radio....

Digging through my CD's I found a live mix I did a did with Mark Jones a few years ago during a film festival in Sheffield that's worth a listen.  Pretty mellow and diverse...

Feat:
Coil
Susuma Yokota
Alice Coltrane
Philip Cohran
Sun Ra
Rhythm & Sound/Basic Channel
Yours truly
Jan Jelenik
Christian Fennesz
Savath and Savalas
Autechre
Theo Parrish

Old and New

Probably best to download and listen rather than stream.

Cool, cheers for that FD.

But what format is .m4a?  Its some iTunes/iPod bastardisation of the mp3 format isn't it?  On an M$-Windoze computer here so should be able to get it playing, but will look into converting it at home for continued listening pleasure.  Others might get stumped by it though.

Liking this a lot - what is the track that you are starting to mix in at about the 17 minute mark - it's sweet!
