Well yeah, the stuff on the myspace page is a total pisstake.

But the album is gorgeous. Well i like it anyway, but i'm a huge fan of pretty much everything he's ever done so i would like it :)

And continuing the Aphex theme - here is a live dj set from the Twin:

Aphex Twin @ Coachella 2008

Excellent mix - all is calm for the first 24 minutes, then it goes Richard James mental - last track is ridiculous :)

Am downloading a .flac version atm too from Demonoid which i can share somewhere if there's enough demand. It's a biggy tho at 360mb.

The Tuss is definitely in the same style as RDJ's stuff, so if it isn't him, there's a second musical genius somewhere copying his style perfectly... I've not given it a proper listen so I can't really remember what the tunes were like, except that they were like RDJ's stuff...

For all Aphex Fans I've the following files d/l'd as a torrent from The Mixing Bowl (you'll need an account to view).

I haven't actually got round to watching/listening to much of this yet so can't vouch for quality/completeness of the recordings, but I can probably sort peeps out with some (as you need to have a decent ratio on the Mixing Bowl before you can download such 'Mega' Torrents), but it might take some time to upload it to my server (as linking it all from my home server would kill my net speed when people grab it thanks to Virgin's "traffic shaping"  ).

In the mean time here's Aphex Twin - Live Acid House DJ Set @ Fuse not sure of the year I'm afraid, nor do I have a track listing, but it is rather good. :P

Hmmm. I'm not sure about the labelling of that mix. Firstly it's not Acid House (would anyone play Acid House at Fuse?) and secondly it doesn't sound like anything that Aphex would do. Sorry if i'm being over cynical.

They're likely derived from The Mixing Bowl which has had them available for some time.

Well worth getting them if you like your dance music.  I've got 1994 1997 and 2000-2007 and there are some quality mixes in there.

The Mixing Bowl also has many other radio shows archived such as Breezeblock/Marry Anne Hobbs, John Peel (RIP), Blue Room (Rob da Bank), Kiss FM, Solid Steel, 6Mix, 1xtra, Back to the Basics (German dance show), live sets from various gigs and festivals.  I've a couple of invites if anyone is interested.

Nothing wrong with being cynical.  Wouldn't be too surprised if its not labelled correctly, I've no recollection of where I got it from anyway.  Have been listening to some of the other Aphex mixes I detailed and they sound far more like Mr James.

DJ Yoda fans pay attention

...and anyone else who loves a mashup.

If you've not heard of him check out DJ Riko.

Why I've not thought to mention this before I've no idea  , but I discovered his works back in 2002/3 when some mixes were kicking about somewhere (possibly Audiogalaxy).

Very good DJ/producer in a similar vein to DJ Yoda (but with less scratching).  Quite a few mixes out there, and also some X v's Y tracks.

A smart mix-up of whistling samples DJ Riko - Whisltler's Delight

A couple of good ones...

Dj Riko - Free For All
DJ Riko - Gilding the Lily

...but they're all pretty good (and free) so check 'em out.

Most of his mixes are available at b00mb0x which has some other gems hidden in amongst the crap (particularly good mixers who post stuff there are mwude and bongdevil).

This is gonna blow em away when its released in September:

http://violencerecordings.com/salvation/salvation
Due out on Monday. And although it still sounds good...

...I'm tending to prefer another Monday release: Various - Juice Blender 2 (Citrus Recordings). I liked the first compilation and I like the sound of this one too - phat, techy DnB with immediate appeal.

Thanks for Jools Holland I've discovered some really nice blues by Seasick Steve. He was on the show last week and you can catch it on iplayer if you're in the UK and you act fast. He seemed like a genuinely humble guy who's had an interesting life and his music sounds good, so it's win/win. His latest album is called "I started out with nothing and I still got most of it left" which is a funny name with much deeper implications. I'd suggest that you find/buy/steal/download this album. Google gave me a download link within 30 seconds of looking but I'm not going to provide a direct link (because I'm not sure if UKB then becomes liable).

Enjoy the album. It's great.

There's also a bunch of videos on vimeo, so here's one to get you started;

UPDATE: I've just seen that he's in playing at Nottingham Rock City on Thu 09 Oct 2008 - 20:00 so I'm probably going to go (assuming it's not sold out) if anyone else is keen.

Derrick Carter.
What's he doing these days, anything good?  I used to love The Cosmic Disco, should probably dig it out and see if it sounds quite so excellent now I'm wearing my old, sensible head  :-\
