After seeing Life Cycles I've had this in my head, finally cracked and downloaded the album, first impressions are pretty good.

The track is "Ghosted" by Data Romance.  The only version on the internets that I can find is as the Life Cycles trailer which is pretty awesome in its own right:

If anyone can point to more of a similar nature I'd be most grateful.

A few reasonably mainstream releases I was unaware of;

Broken Bells - Meyrin Fields EP. Not as good as the album but still good.

Guillemots - Walk by the River. So far pretty good. Not as good as the first album, but better than Red.

Gorillaz - The Fall. Loving this. Not really a Gorillaz album, feels more like a Damon Albarn solo album (with another great Bobby Womack vocal thrown in). Some blisteringly good tracks and a couple of duff and pretty pointless (skip The Speak it Mountains & Seattle Yodel for example).

Can listen here http://thefall.gorillaz.com/

But heartbreakingly still not a patch on Through the Windowpane..

Fly Yellow Moon by Fyfe Dangerfield (guillemots frontman / genius) is my album of whichever year it was released in....

PS some things are too good not to share:

Sadly not. Fyffe's album was last year, rough in places but still a gem.
