this week i arv been mostly listening to handsome boy modeling school 'white people' (ver good), rjd2 'since we last spoke' (not as raw as first album, more tuny but good), boca 45 'pitch sounds' and mos def 'the new danger' (not as good as first album bit ok - too much rnb talky shit).

also aim 'fabric live'. quite good.

This week I have mostly been listening to hardcore, trancecore, and gabber with the odd dash of techno and dnb for seasoning. Ah yes =).

When I worked at DR climbing walls in the early 90s we used to make resin panels with a gabba sound track. I reckon it upped production rates by about 30 percent!

On a different note I've been listening to the following:

The Be Good Tanyas - Blue Horse (download: Light enough to travel)

The Czars - Goodbye (download: Paint the Moon)

American Music Club - Love songs for Patriots (download: Another Morning, Patriot's Heart, Home)

Gabba/er... jeezus.

On my playlist of late ...

The Earlies 'These were': Really lush pop/electronica

Soundmurder 'Wired for sound' - Mashup ragga/d'n'b mix CD

Sir Richard Bishop: 'Improvika': Pretty out there fingerpick steel guitar improv

Refused; 'The Shape of Punk to Come'

Blind Lemon Jefferson: Black Snake Moan

PG Six; The Well of Memory (Panto - I reckon you'd like this one).

On a musical note, I have a spare ticket for the chalet I've booked for Slint's All Tomorrow's Parties at the end of Feb £125 if anyone's interested.

The first time I heard a Gabba track over a massive soundsystem (DJ Easygroove I think) it scared the shit out of me and blew my addled mind.

I've got a bit of early Dutch stuff on vinyl before it went too crazy but I soon lost interest in it, especially with all it's far-right skinhead connections...

Glad to see it is as unfashionable and disreputable as ever    :bash:  :rocker2: .

P.S. I can't remember seeing any evidence of genuine far-right connections other than some fans sharing the same haircuts, at least not in this country.

clm check out this:

Liars: They Threw Us All in a Trench and Stuck a Monument on Top

More Gang of Four than Joy Division, but nonetheless an awesome slab of driving punk-funk-existential-rage if ever I heard it.

Making a big break through in 2005 will be The Mooney Suzuki. Quality rock and roll, with songs about naked ladies, shaking bushes and being loose and juicy. Plus lyrics such as:
female voice 'would you like to slip into something more comfortable?'
male voice 'yeah, you!'
AWESOME!
Their current single, Alive and Amplified, which came out today can be heard occassionally on Radio 2 courtesy of Mr Radcliffe.
Go and buy it, it'll make your life compete............... until it doesn't!

have just picked up gangstarr - the ownerz.  better late than never it seems!  very cool..

plus the DITC album, which doesn't seem to be on release here anymore, and i had to pay through the nose for it secondhand. still, almost as good as the above, if not better.  get yours especially.

Fiend - you've been listening to some German guy coughing phelgm? (Note to self - avoid visiting Germany before revising O-level german)

This week i have accidentally found the shared folder containing almost a gig of mp3s. Which is good.

Highlights include MC Solaar feat Gangstarr - Le Tempo,  Beastie boys - Sabotoge, Some other MC Solaar track with the Guru "le bien, le mal"?,  Tupac - California Love and random tracks from the Freestylers, Swayzak, Beck, and loads of Bob Dylan, Manu Chao, The Pogues, Bob Marley and the Clash.

Also there's a collection of theme tunes - The A Team, the Muppets, Starsky and Hutch (bow-wow-chicka-chicka) and the DUKES OF HAZZARD

Erm, this week I 'ave been mostly listening too..

Comets on Fire: Blue Cathedral.  Roaring psychedelia/krautrock.. pretty good.
Papa M's singles from 2003
The Necks: Mosquito - 2 hour long tracks the Necks - great driving soundtrack music.
Firehose - If'n
Wilco - Ghost whateverit's called: Brilliant, but the best track (spider somthing or other) has a riff that sounds like the bridge in Xanadu by Rush which is a bit distracting and I'm sure was done on purpose.

Palomides: The Guru and M C Solar tracks are from Jazzmatazz Vol 1 - worth owning the whole CD if you like those two
