Power steering issue
April 02, 2014, 10:21:38 am
Occasionally (maybe once a week) my power steering takes about 10 seconds to kick in. Due to its in frequency and that's it has only ever happened when first turned on, I'm not too worried.
Any idea what it could be? Just had an mot and had to replace the brake lines so don't really want to spend any more money if I don't have to...

What type and age of car is it?
Often the the sensors on the electric driver (EPS), but some makes are setup differently.

It's an 04 Astra.
Just had the garage call mid job saying they've found something else wrong which costs another 80 quid to fix. Bloody cars...

I hadn't thought to check actually. I'll have a look later when I pick it up from the garage.

Cheers guys! My very limited car knowledge days this should be cheap to rectify if it is the case, right?

Yup. Look in manual, buy the right spec stuff (or halfords shoud have info), find reservoir, remove cap making
very
sure you don't let any dirt fall into reservoir, fill to marking level, replace cap tightly.
