Press release as folllows

The Lost Arrow Masters Team Bouldering Competition 2003

On Saturday March the 1st 2003 The Edge Climbing Centre will once again host the bi-annual Lost Arrow Masters Team bouldering competition. The first event, held at The Edge in 2001, was one of the most successful and fun bouldering events held in the UK in recent years and saw 25 teams battle it out on 20 problems set by the UK's most devious route setters. Now back due to popular demand, the 2003 event is set to be one of the highlights of this years competition calendar, and a showcase for the most talented climbers in the UK, as well as from Europe and beyond.

You are invited to enter a team for this competition. Companies that sponsor climbers should be able to assemble a team of athletes to represent them at this prestigious event. Teams are also invited from climbing centres, particularly walls who host bouldering leagues and can assemble climbers from their league winners.

This is your chance to have your brand or business represented at the most exciting climbing event of 2003.

The competition format is as follows……

·   Each company/business may enter 1 or more teams. Your teams must consist of six climbers, of which at least two must be female.
·   The price per team entry is £150. Your teams place at the event can only be confirmed on receipt of this entry fee.
·   The event will consist of 20 problems, ranging in difficulty from V1 to V11. Each problem will have a marshal to ensure fair play.
·   This year problems must be attempted by the whole team at the same time. Each team will be allowed 15 minutes per problem to try and get all their climbers up their designated route. This should reduce congestion on problems during the event. In order the make this work, on confirmation of your teams entry you will be allocated a start time for your team, who will then follow a set ‘circuit' of problems.
·   Space is strictly limited to 20 teams. If you would like to enter a team for this event, we recommend prompt registration to avoid disappointment.
·   The winning team will receive the coveted Lost Arrow Trophy and £600. There are also great cash prizes for the top three male and female individuals, as well as a scorecard raffle for spot prizes.
·   As ever, there will be a very large party following the event, with free food and drink for the events participants
·   For more information or an application form contact Percy Bishton on 0114 275 8899, or via email at  percy@sheffieldclimbing.com

If anyone wants an application form, email me and I'll send you one

Remember, this comp is coming up soon.... here's some more info from Percy B:

We have received entries from 15 teams so far, and the list of competitors reads like a whos-who of cutting edge bouldering.

Rumours abound of entrants from over seas, such as Dani Andrada, Pedro Pons, Nikki Hager....all keen to do battle with UK stars such as Malcom Smith, Andy Earl, Lucy Creamer, John Dunne, Gaz Parry, Steve McClure, Ben Moon, the list of heroes is endless!

If you would like to enter a team and have not yet done so, contact Percy at The Edge ASAP (01142758899). The event is shaping up to be the best competition of the year!

I hear another little rumour that Fatboyslimfast and Underground may be spinning some choons and I might get down to get a bit of film if that's allowed (and bring my box of gnarliest gabba techno to offset that poncy funk the other two will be playing   )

I think Dobbin suggested a while back but the £150 fee is a little ofputting if this damn site never generates any cash, which it isn't going to do in any hurry!

Well, it's funny you should mention that Mr Dobbin coz I'm seeing someone later on about possible hookups.

I don't want UKB to ever be just a shopfront or plastered with ads, but a little bit of income would help towards my time/being able to buy good content/server costs.

Hmm £150 is quite steep!

Just ask the companies who sponsor the UKB just for the day such as wearing their t-shirt at the comp and paying the entry fees etc but no advert on the site tho. is that possible?

I think its to keep the riff-raff out. And to cover the cost of shutting the wall for a day.

Heh heh!! I know, I could sell all our users's emails addresses to the spam companies, you know you love a bit of spam. How about some nice online casino ads too, nobody's tried that one yet....what do you mean cragx have already done it? Damn, beaten to it!

I'll have to get a logo done, so you can have a UKB emlazoned codpiece....

Like Cameo - word Up... Uh Uh! Let's get some of that legendary Moffat style back into climbing!

On a semi serious note, someone out there in webland must be into graphics or similar - design a logo competition on the site, winner gets the privilege of having their logo on the site and on t-shirts!

If you really wanna go down the "pr0n-banner" road, make it so that when you open the site it lauches 5 other windows, and these each launch more when you close them. Will have people going "Ctrl-Alt-Del" like its going out of fashion.

That Cameo codpiece is still a legend! That track must have come out about 15 years ago or something!

Yeah, especially full screen ones with no close buttons / pop-unders / spyware cookies / pr0n dialers that install themselves, close your connection and dial some horrifyingly expensive number in south america.

Ain't the web great??

OK........I know the entry fee is expensive, but just look at what you get.
20 of the finest problems me, Vickers, scottish Ron, Fawcett and Gawthorpe can dream up.
New bits of bouldering wall that are in existence just for the one day!
Big new features to wrestle, courtesy of Bendcrete
The chance of getting you're ass whooped by all you're climbing heroes
A free party after, with free food and free beer
Possibilities of foreign birds with nice bottoms bearing down on tiny grips

Come on UKB, its time to stop the blather, and get you're collective shit together. A team of you're finest talent would make my competition complete. That is, or course, unless you're scared.....?!?!

I hope you've set those footholds on the ladies problems well apart Percy    Tsk, sorry that's dreadfully sexist, I'd never look at a foreign girls bottom. No..not me....

Personally, there's no way I'd enter a comp coz I'm shit. Also, Dobbin has already been nabbed by the opposition....and we'd have trouble getting two women boulderers. One perhaps, but not two (unless there's any volunteers out there?)
