Indoor bouldering- Volumes
March 21, 2014, 01:54:38 pm
Hi everbody

I have bouldering indoor for approx 1 1/2 years but have recently have stepped it up and reached higher grades but i have started to come up against the problems of volumes.

There is currently 3-4 routes that require matching on a volume and I just cant work out the best way to get a grip on the triangular volume, is it best to go at them like a sloper or try pinching the point or any other the multiple other choices?

Are these the new ones at Transition?

It's horses for courses, depending on the nature of the volume. Some you can thumb pinch, some you can guppy pinch, some you can hang like slopers, some you can layback. Some you do all of the above, or none.

I think he means "moulding". There was a whole thread about this not that long ago but I'm on my phone and too lazy to search.

That's a really useful link thanks, and thanks all for helping me out, I will have to play around with it until I can get a descent grip.

I think that's the thing you're trying to avoid  ;)
