What is it all about?

Mega Comp is an annual competition hosted by Boulder Central with a format designed for everybody to get involved with whether you're spectating or competing. For spectators, this event gives you the chance to watch friends, family and British team members all compete in this one-day competition. If you want to compete, we have 6 categories to suit all abilities:

Male Open and Female Open

These categories will have 25 qualifying problems and a world cup style final with 3 finalists climbing 3 problems - £275 up for grabs full list of prizes below.

U16's Males and U16's Females

These categories are only for people aged under 16 and will contain 30 problems. Alternatively, under 16s can still choose to compete in the Open or Fun categories. Whereas prizes will be given to the overall winner of this category, we will also record scores within the BMC and IFSC youth age categories (more info here).

Fun Males and Fun Females

These categories are recommended to anybody who wants more experience in the competition environment without wanting to enter the more challenging open category. This category will have 25 problems ranging from VB - V4/5.

Dates and Times

The competition will take place on Sunday 9th March.
 
11am-12:15pm: Registration
12:15-3:15pm: Open qualifying, U16 and Fun competitions
3:15pm-4pm: Relax and enjoy the free buffet and have a go at the Wild Country crack machine
4pm-4:15pm: Prize giving for U16 and Fun categories
4:15pm-5.15pm: Male and Female Open Finals
5:30pm: Open category prize giving and raffle draw
 
Route setting

All routes will be set by 7 times British Bouldering Champion and international route setter Gaz Parry along with Jonny Argue and the Boulder Central setting team.

All holds in the Open qualifiers and Open final will be provided by Axis.

Scoring

10 points first try, 6 points second try and 4 points third try.
Entry and Prizes

Competitors

Entry for every category will be standard Boulder Central entry + £3 (bought in advance) or standard entry + £5 (bought on the day).

Advance entry purchases can be made at Boulder Central or online HERE. Every competitor is entitled to a free buffet served in the break between qualifying and the final.
 
Spectators

Spectators are free to come and watch the competitors throughout the day. However, please be aware that as Boulder Central needs to comply with fire regulations, there may be a restriction to the amount of people allowed in the building at one time. Please check the website nearer the time for any advisory information on visiting. The free buffet is for competitors only.
 
Open Prizes:

1st Place: £275
2nd Place: Red Chili Matador shoes (or similar from Red Chili)
3rd Place: Wild Country bundle pack including a Wild Country tee, boulder bucket etc.
 
U16 Prizes:

1st Place: Red Chili Matador shoes (or similar from Red Chili)
2nd Place: Wild Country bundle pack including a Wild Country tee, boulder bucket etc.
3rd Place: Wild Country tee
 
Fun Prizes:

1st Place: Wild Country tee

Raffle Prizes

Everyone who competes in the Mega Comp automatically gets entered into a raffle with prizes provided by Wild Country, Red Chili and Boulder Central.
 
Day Logistics and Organisation

In order to climb at the competition, a participant must either be a member of Boulder Central or be supervised by an adult member with a 2:1 supervision ratio. To save time in the initial registration process, you can download relevant forms and fill them in beforehand. Please note. Those who signed up for annual membership last year will still have valid membership this year.
