Slightly OT but could you do a landscape-oriented A5 cover to fit books like the current Peak Bouldering and Portland guides Nails? Not something that exists as far as I know.

Interesting idea. I have the Peak Bouldering guide and I know what you mean. I don't think they're going to last that well without some sort of protection. They'd be pretty easy to get made, it just depends if the numbers justify it. Anybody know of any other mainstream guides in the same A5 landscape format (other than already mentioned)?

Never seen the point to guide covers, I cover mine with sticky back plastic when I get them and  just put my them back in my bag when I'm done with it.  Seems a pointless additional weight to lug up to the crag.

Alpkits "mission" zipped pouches (4 sizes for £10) include one which as a perfect size to fit a guidebook and associated print outs in, with this zip along the landscape direction.  I have taken to using this to help prolong the life of my guidebook and also deal with the number of print outs I seem to have accumulated.
