Preference is for a 2.5TDi.  A LWB would be ideal.  The one on UKC is a bit spendy at £20K, so older/cheaper than this.

You do get the odd bargain - when I was looking for mine I did miss out on a genuine one on fleaBay for less than £14K fully loaded with under 100K on the clock but they're pretty rare (generally seems to be personal issues forcing a quick sale type thing) - if he's got time then he'll generally get a better deal buying a decent base vehicle and doing it himself - don't expect much change from £8 - 10K tho if you're looking for windows, poptop, crash tested R&R bed, insulating, electrics, swivel seats, heater, units, fridge, DAB, yadda yadda yadda....... I spent pretty much the whole summer on mine too!

Don't get me started on what it can cost if you want to pimp the outside too

Oh and generally be wary of offers that appear too good to be true as there are a lot of scammers out there, especially on fleaBay and scumtree...

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'm just following orders here, but they are pretty set on a T5. This may have change if dreams and budgetary reality don't coincide.

The person is definitely not a DIYer.

The budget might go to £18K at a push.

I got 17.5k for mine which was a 54 plate and pretty much one of the first T5 conversions. It also had 135k on the clock.

Went straight away and i could have got more so they wont have much choice at 18K if they want a full conversion.

As gav says, if anything comes up on open market that's a good deal it gets snapped up almost instantly, you can't hang about, folk hang on to them as they are reliable and well built.
