The "Wigwam" crag referred to was one we spotted about 20 years ago, and used to peer longingly at from the road, thinking it looked awesome. In the old South Africa they wouldn't let climbers near it though. Guess a bit of income opens doors.

Superb stuff.  I climbed on this wall in 2008 with Andrew, and did his other route there, Monster (7c+).  I said at the time it was the best sport route I've ever done, and I still think it is.  I'm not sure Waterfall Boven is as good as the best Euro destinations, but that wall is stunning.  If you are ever in SA it's worth getting there and getting on Monster, or one of the others.  Here's a completely self indulgent pic of me on it... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=40131328721&set=a.13069178721.23977.515403721

Perhaps one of the most memorable bits of climbing there was Andrew taking me drinking in the township, going into a bar to buy some beer, and within 3 seconds of entering being embraced in a bear hug by a very large, very drunk gentleman.  When things started getting spicy an hour later, we set off walking back, followed by a big group of angry looking people, and Andrew's comment was "how good are you at running?"

Sounds about right. I can remember getting very drunk and then visiting the shebeens and trying to buy dope. In hindsight was probably not a wise idea.

Like your Blouberg pics, never made it there, plus I wasn't really climbing hard enough at the time to do much.

Blouberg is amazing.  The  best proper adventure climbing I've done.  Nails to find the place though.  I was with 2 blokes who'd been there about 40 times, and we still took hours to find the bivi spot

SA gets another (probable) 8c, this time from the old dog Steve Bradshaw.

look at that great rest he's getting - and he's not even using a kneepad!
