5.10 Dragon Sizing
June 07, 2004, 11:45:31 am
Trying to source a pair of dragons No look in the UK so going to try my luck with European outlets.

Firstly, Does anyone know of anywhere I can get a pair and secondly have the sizings changed with the graffiti tabs? I know the sizing of the anasazis changed slightly with the graffiti's - higher heel cup and slightly tighter fit. I take a 7.5 in the anasazi's super tight so what size would I need in the Dragon's??

i have found that my v10s (similar shoe) are tight as a nuns.... as i have got them in the same size as my regular anasazi size.

Old thread, new Dragons, same issue.
What's the sizing like for the new shoes?  I've been using the Anasazi Pinks for years and have always been size 9.  I'm going to have to order online as I can't find a local shop with Dragons, but what size?
Any ideas?
Cheers.

Houdini's on the money, half a size down on the pinks i'd suggest but prefer for a bit of pain to start with and a large "knuckle" lump near your big toe..

Thanks boys.   :great:
Preferation for pain shall commence.
I'll probably wimp out and go for 8.5 for now.

I think my dragons are a full size bigger than my normal 5:10 velcros, and half a size bigger than my V10s. The whole point of dragons is the badass heelhooking, so if you get them too tight you'll make the heel less secure (sounds counterintuitive, but its true) because your heel will be only half-in the heel cup. you can take up any front bag with the laces, not that i've found any.

I've always suspected that differences in 5.10 sizing between small & large are logarithmic.

my heel is snug as a bug in a rug...The whole point of dragons is for seriously steep stuff or where clawing with your toes is preferable.

mine are a uk 6.. in my trainers I'm a 7..

I've got the dragons with a partially enclosed heel cup, they took a while to stretch / fit properly but were fine in less than a month.. they're noticeably smaller (ie at least half a size) than my velcros or anasazi slippers which are also supposed to be a uk 6..

awesome shoes and to be honest I cant imagine them being anywhere near as good  if they were any bigger.. the toe is shit hot and the heel really good.. surprisingly good on grit too!

I've ordered a pair of 8.5s, so I'll try them and see how they are.  There's always the 7 day return policy

can recommend v12 outdoor, they were excellent when I got my V10's.. bought 'em online and swapped original pair for a 6.5.. next day delivery from these guys too!

should add that I went for the partially enclosed heel in the dragon deliberately.. figured it'd stretch / mould itself to the shape of my heel which it has.. especially in comparison to the v10... the partially enclosed heel feels more sensitive too..

Wow, the 8.5s are smaaaall.  They don't even fit!  In fact, the 8.5 Dargons are over 1cm smaller (length) than the Anasazi Pink 9s.  How big a difference is there between half sizes?  I think I may have to go up to a 9.5 (ie half a size bigger than my Pinks).  What's going on in the world?

I take a 6.5 in velcros, and had to go up to a size 8 in dragons, my normal shoe size. I couldn't even get a 7.5's on to my foot. Thats some tight schizzle.

GCW did you try wearing plastic bags to get 'em on your feet??  I had to at first and for a few days couldn't imagine getting them on my feet without, took a while to break in / comfortise.. stretched nicely now tho..

half a size.. if you can take the initial pain! they do stretch and soften!! plus the last thing you want is for them to be too big / move on your toe...

I'm guessing mine (the partially enclosed heels) prolly stretch a bit more given that there isnt all that rubber on the heel..

im a 9 in anastazi slippers, and 9 in boreal heel hooking beasts,
the dragons i have in 8's god they hurt like hell but they are amazing.
they are starting to become easier to put on and they dont fold my little toe under anymore
so id say as long as it takes under 10 minutes to get the buggers on, get the smallest you can as they do seem to stretch out!

Well, boots came today (9.5s).  Had a crack at the crag and managed about 20 minutes before they hurt a lot.  Excellent performance though, so I'm hoping they will stretch out a tad and become less crippling.  All the toes are fairly scrunched at present, but I am sure this will improve a bit.

Cheers all.

I bought a pair of Dragons and based on the previous posts on this thread, bought them as small as I could get my feet into (still a full continental size bigger than my old 5.10 Pinks). I have mainly been wearing the Dragons while watching TV to try and break them in. However my big toe is still very scrunched up even after 4 or 5 evenings of telly watching. Should I persevere and they will stretch or should I cut my losses and ebay them and buy a bigger pair?

Any advice from other Dragon wearers much appreciated

My philosophy is if you can get your feet in them they're not too small, keep going.

Mine were ridiculous when I first got them back before Xmas, but now they've softened up nicely and are fantastic. Excellent shoes, can't believe it took me so long to get hold of a pair!

Hmm..
Bought a pair of Dragons today. 9.5's which is the same size as my regular shoes. My Anasazi velcro size is 7.5.. I couldnt get into the 9's and the 9.5's were snug - but readily get-inable... whats the stretch factor in these like?

not a lot of strech. Dragons are only rockshoes i've ever had to buy in street shoe size. Pretty comical when a dragon 9.5 is the same size as a sportiva 7.5.

i found the sizing so west on the ones we had in the shop, ended up waiting and finally got a pair yesterday so was in the agony stage today trying to break them in.
Don't know what will break first the boots or my toes!
