Folks

We dropped into Heckley near Alnwick on Saturday on our way north to Scotland as it was convenient and the NMC Bouldering Guide said worth a visit and no mention of specific access probems just be sensible and follow the instructions in the guide, which we did. Nice little venue, Heckley arete is excellent. The confusion arose when I looked at the place on UKC that night and it stated 'CLIMBING BANNED @ THIS CRAG' in the access notes  :wavecry:

Given is mega convenient (3-4mins off the A1) if travelling north or south for a quick visit and is fairly rain proof I just wondered if anyone knows what the current situation is as we are likely to want to drop in again sometime and do not want to ruin future access for others or inflame a delicate situation????

Cheers

I'd be inclined to always check the BMC Regional Access Database as they are the ones who do the work on the ground representing climbers and arranging access.  UKC don't.

There is an application version of the BMC RAD available for Android.

Maybe the situation has changed since the Guide was published?

The NMC is probably the place with its ear closest to the ground, ad they say it's a no go unless you fancy picking shot out your bum.

Not especially obvious but in the access small print.

Its in the tapatalk settings..

Sent via my Dell Alienware M14x whilst drinking a Greggs tea - which is shit by the way, but their coffee machine was broken and I had to get some sort of hot drink to go with my bacon roll (red sauce) breakfast deal. Isn't the weather nice today - oh a bird shat its guts out all over the back of my car last night, I couldnt have done it any better myself with a bucket and some shit.

Thanks for the responses guys, looks like a return visit is a no-no which is a real shame.

Quite happy to miss the chance to be accidentally shot, I had an idiot induced very near miss with a shotgun whilst innocently carp fishing a few years ago and am quite happy to forego the pleasure of lead flying past inches from my head again

Oddly though we were definitely not the only ones there recently as the traverses were all well chalked as well as all the harder up problems at the LH end, hopefully access could be regained sometime as its a nice little venue for a couple of hours
