I heard it was because Ueli mentioned he thought the bolt on Fred Zimmerman was fine and the sherpa was an ethical purist and soloed it without.

blessed has enough sherpa problems. I remember reading if woke up on a mountain one morning, and all his sherpas had done a flit, and stolen all his cheese supplies.

Besides, he's busy practicing commentary for the Olympic triclimbathon

 :boxing:

finally!

I have been asking his opinion, and he has at last twitted.

Brian Blessed has come out punching for the SHERPAS (his booming capitals, not mine).

Blessed has boomed. The sherpas were right! There can be no argument.

When Sherpas lose it, they really lose it - Kukri's at dawn etc. And any westerner who claims to really understand the Sherpas is an arrogant twit.

"At one point Simone stated over open radio frequency (fixing frequency-tuned in by all the fixing teams and anyone listening on the mountain) that if the Sherpa had a problem he could come down to Camp 2 soon and “f—ing fight”.

Just read this nice rant by Jeff Jackson at Rock and Ice. It continues to interest me that the US climbing media take a much more cynical  attitude to the Everest industry than the UK equivalents. Presumably the amount of potential advertising from guiding companies is proportionately more significant in the UK?

Ha ha, I doubt it. Though I bet if the editor chose to criticise Ueli/Moro for calling a Sherpa a muthaf*cker and asking for a fight, TNF and Mtn Hardware would be threatening to pull advertising.

FACTS about climbing Mount Everest  :clap2:

Quote
There are many dangers on Mount Everest, including falling into a crevasse, getting altitude sickness, and death, which is the biggest of the dangers. But it is worth it, because Mount Everest is the best mountain on earth. There is also a small risk of being punched in the face on Mount Everest.

Climbing Mount Everest requires lots of training. Experts recommend climbing a bunch of other — but obviously less significant — mountains on Earth. Especially mountains with lots of snow on them, like Mount Rainier or Mount McKinley. If you can’t climb other mountains, you should fill a large backpack with rocks, wrap your head with several pillowcases so it is difficult to breathe, and walk up 3,000 stairs every day. This will get you in shape. If you are worried about getting punched in the face, you can prepare by spending some time at a local sports bar wearing a rival team’s jersey.

Big Brian is doing his bit:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/asia/8709168/Climbing-Everest-with-oxygen-not-adventure

"I don't think there should be any expeditions to the mountain unless they are climbing it without oxygen - 29,035ft is just high enough to be climbed without oxygen," he said.

"It's achieving nothing in the development of human will and human achievement and in the spirit of adventure. It's all vanity."

Hopefully high profile figures making these statements will change public perception and stop the masses. Doubt it though.
