Sheffield College are always after models for the hairdressers they are training (my wife teaches there).

They're all supervised and many are NVQ level 2 or above (i.e. already qualified and working as hairdressers).

There are two downsides...

a) Its almost always during standard office hours (Monday to Friday 9-5, although there are one or two late nights).

b) Assuming you don't have highlights/texturising/layers/etc. they already have lots of models who have straight-forward trims to long hair.

Check it out, its cheaper than the high street.

I've got a great hairdresser thank you very much. At least I've got some hair to dress.

When you get your hair cut Jasper, and after they've finished they ask you if its ok - by checking your reflection in the mirror... What do you do? Politely say its ok? ;)

Cheers for the info everyone, in the end I had to get it done last night as I'm running out of time this week so nipped into sweeny4.  The lady who did it seemed to know what she was talking about and no one has out right laughed at me in work today.

I might check out some of the cheaper establishments in the future, Savills and Jaspers suggestions look a bit too up market for me, I don't use L'Oreal so I'm not really worth it.

I didn't enjoy my sweeney experience as it was overpriced and they spent the entire time defending that Sheff United rapist as he was a customer. Nice cut though.

Gents Div:
Tried last summer after a recommendation - worst haircut I've ever had.

Savills on Chapel Walk:
So tried this place. Went twice. Each time I was made to feel like they we're doing me a favour for cutting my hair - ignoring me when I walked in/chatting to their mates etc. (now I know how customers felt when we worked at Rock and Run).

Haven't been back to either.

I go to Toni and Guy on Pinstone Street now. At least their staff are properly trained to cut hair and are nice to me (free coffee etc). Been 3 times in the last 6 months - no complaints.
