if i dont find some dry rock soon ...
December 27, 2002, 02:36:30 pm
I'm going to go MAD.

I just drove 20 miles to the ones spot i thought would be OK and it was SOAKING.

One more place to try when the tide gets out - I should be able to get an hour in before it goes dark. But if its wet there too, I'm going to explode

i hate this country

Went to Burbage South boulders for a bimble about. Did about six problems then the rain started. God, I felt so strong and nimble after a week of eating and drinking  :?

I can't believe I missed it! I got a message from Rob Smith at about 10am proclaiming that sheffield was swathed in sunlight, jumped in the car (at me parents again) and headed home (via the S.A.L.E.S, urgh!) and as I turned off the motorway it started f*cking raining.

its too much to bear.

The weather this xmas blew a big fat dick. I only got out 3 times, and another two where we walked to the crag only to find it raining/wet (wharncliffe/rivelin). I mananged to get to wharncliffe for routes on the 21st, did some nice soloing, and fell off dead heat whilst trying to boulder-out the start. Unfortunately the thick fog turned gradualy to thin rain so we bailed. Burbage/stanage was good on the 27th untill it rained, but even then WSS stayed dry so I had to endure the indignity of failing on that again. Managed to get into the new Matrix wall at the uni, £3 in, open to the general public out of term time it seems (although they forgot to tell anyone) - its a good wall, worth a visit. NYE saw us go to hampers hang area, which was the best day, got HH 2nd try, which is a weight off my shoulders. Got the 2nd ascent of a new(?) dyno, which had gone unrepeated for over 3 minutes. Hope it stops raining in 2003.

I've already drowned several particularly fluffy kittens in my rage against the weather.  The south west is just like one big god's piss pot.  I had a load of stuff I wanted to get done while it was 'cold and dry', but I've been climbing outdoors once since october, even then the ground was so fuckin mong I spent more time cleaning my boots.  And to cap it all off, I've hurt some tendons in my forearm training with one arm pull ups, that wouldn't have happened if it had been dry, when was the last time you saw a chin up bar at your nearest crag?

Fuck it all!!!!!!!!!:guns:

has anyone managed to do anything in the peak then?

or is there too much snow? it usually ends up dripping down the problems when the thaw starts...

was considering getting out tomorrow...

I recon tomorrow might be damp rock due to melting snow, so personally I'm banking on sunday being dry. Does anyone know if it got snow over in staffordshire/roaches?

I am in Stockport and it looks pretty good here - blue skies breaking through and the ground is pretty dry so the roaches might be a goer.
Unfortunately I am stuck in an office

PGD today - crisp, cold and sunny ------ but ------ the snow will be melting on the boulders - aaaagghhh!!! Tomorrrow might be the day but going to head out anyway and see what's dry.

You need to escape the clutches of London paulh - you know it makes sense! Living in London would mash my head I reckon, the place has everything going on but it's just tooooo big!

Yeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss!!!

Went down to cornwall on saturday and actually did a bunch of problems at Hartland.  Tried Simon Young's Acheball but didn't have a mat so hurt my arse when I fell off onto those damn monster pebbles.  We even had our tops of in the sun, a novel experience for January.

 :D
