Thought I saw it on M1 few weeks ago !!

Good luck on selling it - unfortunately I'm not big fan of Imprezza as currently I'm looking for new car.

It's spent 90% of it's life on the M1, so that was probably me!

Sheer class or what? I could probably sell them as dark mascots to goths or something...

It was a bit macabre actually, all the way home I could see a talon occasionally drift up into view from the front and then disappear again. it got a few laughs from other commuters anyway, one bloke even wound down his window to tell me how nice it looked  :D

Do you commute from Derby to Sheff up the M1 then? We must pass each other a lot - what are you driving?

What time you usually on M1? think I saw you at around 4.35pm other day at between Junc 28-29.

Yeah, that'd be about the right time - if I see ya I'll wave!

Got stuck by that crash just after J28 last night - M1 north was down to one lane - J28 is the most crashed on bit of road I know.

Yeah my other side got held up last night by traffic jam but there is no accident .. just all the car slowed down just to have a look .. hmm

Yeah Junc 28-29 probably got the highest accident spot in the UK.

Next time I see you and I will certainly wave and flash the headlight.

Naaah, tricky one:

Sensible option - Golf GT TDi 150
Naughty but nice option - BMW 330d
Middle of the road option - Alfa 156 2.4 JTd sportwagon

Possibly a 320d if I can find a lowish miles post facelift one...

Go German you'll never regret it
Italian cars look great, but you want to know the thing 'll work every day.
Why not Audi ? German build and component quality without the pimp implications ?

I've had beemers before and they're great cars, but Alfa's have (apparantly) sorted their act out these days.

Audi? Just that bit too bland... I'm sure they're good cars, but they look a bit boring to be honest. I'm not after flash, but I want something that at least appeals a bit on a visual level...

agree wi jim, apart from the golf bit, if you've got a convertible. apparently green rover 214's are comin back into fashion, with the 16V highly sought after. that's 16V not australian 8c+

Started the search today...

Picked up a Nissan Micra hire car - fuck me, what a horrible little thing. Probably great for nipping to the shops but that's about it - ugly as sin and completely wringing it's neck gets 90 on the speedo - everything feels a bit plasticy and nasty.

Went to the VW main dealer and drove a GT TDi 130 with 25k miles on it. Seemed really nice and quite nippy, but it was wet so couldn't really tell how it handled. You can chip these to about 170/180 bhp so definitely a contender.

Popped into the Alfa dealer but they had no Jtd's so no go in that area.  Went to a BMW dealer and sat in a 21K 330d sport - gorgeous car, but out of my price range.

Then went to a small dealer north of Sheffield to look at a BMW 320d - it was a heap and didn't even bother driving it. A fast (in micra terms) dash down to Matlock to test drive a 320d estate.
Only 45k miles, looked mint but just seemed really sluggish with a big flat spot (MAF sensor?) and felt too soft. Tow bar was well used so I reckon it had spent loads of time lugging heavy loads.

So, no joy and back to it tomorrow.

They're like rocking horse shit - there's not even that many high milers about. I've seen one cheap with 139k on, but that's going a bit too high for comfort.

Even the beemer dealer said they couldn't find them, especially the estates.
