Cheese Block Problem at Bridies
November 22, 2012, 11:24:48 am
Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster

I posted about this problem sometime last year on the other channel http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/c.php?i=222182 and it's taken me this long to make any progress on it!

Wondering if anyone short who's done it might have some useful beta for the final move to the lip, before the mantel?

I've hit the sloper with my left, whilst still being locked in on the right undercut; what next? There is a video online showing a lad doing it by popping again with his left, but he looks *much* taller than me (I'm around 5'6").

Thanks

GR

Jim P is quite tall. http://www.yorkshiregrit.com/problem.html?id=bridestones__14_1#video;n=0

Not sure if it's been done any other way.

Yeah, that's the chap I was referring to.  He looks substantially taller than me judging by the video.

I'm guessing I need to match the minging sloper but was hoping for some hobbit-sized feedback.

Not trying that problem, that's for sure...

My advice would be walk away.

As a fellow "fellow of moderate stature" I would advise that we have to pick our battles!

Or release the undercut as you pop again and bring your right over to match the top as you hit it?  Not familiar with the problem so only guesswork based on the vid I'm afraid.

I'd agree with 3t tho, the phrase "harder for the short" guaranteed to have me walking on by.

Harder for the short is too tempting for me to resist trying it! Probably why I've been projecting it for months!

The top is very gritty and pretty sloping.  Not the best for a dynamic double hand grabby thingy.

I bet it's still easier than that damned left arete!!

There is a bit of a lip above the sloper though so maybe a double handed lunge will stick.

I would say its not easier than the left arête, sandbaggy though that is! Dunno like, maybe it's 6C+ for the tall!  ;)
