Turbo trainers

Been looking at a couple of these:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/elite-mag-speed-trainer-pack/

and

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/elite-crono-fluid-elastogel-trainer/

as well as the basic one Decathlon do for 99 quid.

Does anyone have any knowledge about these, or things to look for? I'd like something reasonably quiet, but I'm not training for le tour or something, I'm not going to be banging out hours and hours on it: it seems a very good winter aerobic option though, since I'm not going to be running for a while.

I have a magnetic one for sale for £30. Never used it so can't offer advice I'm afraid...

I've got a cyclops fluid one- it's fine.

I'm not a great fan but its a useful way of getting some aerobic fitness in the winter.

I tend to use mine when its snowing / on dark evenings - although I'd rather do any other type of aerobic exercise instead. So its generally a last resort for me.

Get a front wheel riser or use some old wood to elevate the front - otherwise the positioning feels wrong & get set up with a stereo to pass the time.

This might sound obvious, but you get what you pay for - cheapo ones will be noisy and not have enough resistance for high-intensity training (not a problem if you're just building base by staring at a concrete wall and staying in Z2 for 24 hours...)

I've had a couple of goes with the videos from The Sufferfest. Involving and quite good fun.
