In case you haven't done this, you can get another 3GB free on dropbox by uploading 3GB of pics (I did it overnight). You delete them straight away, keep the space.https://www.dropbox.com/help/287/en

Is there a way to stop one file in the Dropbox folder uploading?I'm using it as an off-site backup option for my thesis working directory and every time I re-run LaTEX it generates a huge postscript file, this is then uploaded clogging drop-box (and probably nailing my bandwidth simultaneously). I can't really move it out of the folder.
that stops all syncing though?
Maybe it could be automated with a batch script but its a bit late in the day for faffing.
