Disney acquires Lucasfilms
October 31, 2012, 07:31:52 am
I was going to put this under the films thread, but I think it deserves its own topic.

Pricetag - 4 billion.

A new Star Wars film in 2015 and every 2 to 3 years after that. Which has the potential to be good news, or they will all be just A New Hope.

I now have a new baseline for optimism in the face of reality. Thanks for the recalibration opportunity.

Well they might be good, or it might just become a pirates of the caribbean franchise.

I hear Disney are negotiating to buy the Bible - a new gospel in 2015 and every 2 to 3 years after that

It's time like this I wish an idea could implode in on itself and cease to be tangible, poor starwars, they'll fuck you like they fucked Indiana.

5/1 the films include Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jack Black as a 'sassy' wookie.

I hope not, but if Disney buy up the franchise me might end up with something worse than 'Chasing Amy'.

I love the way that in every picture he looks like he has sold his soul to the devil. The irony being George is that you did that a long time ago.

Bring on Disney Star Wars on ice, sounds like a Simpson parody.

Exactly. I'm not really bothered about this as the ship has already sailed.

I absolutely loved the trilogy as a kid, the first two films are still amazing and I can even cope with Jedi as Jabba and other great bits counteract the Ewoks. However, EVERYTHING that Lucas has done to the Star Wars "franchise" since has made me want to kill him.

I watched about half an hour of the first prequel before switching it off and swearing never to watch any of them. Utter fucking shit. As if they weren't bad enough crimes, the cunt also fucked about with the original films, ruining important points in the story and adding dogshit CGI wankness all over the place.

I already hate Lucas, nothing Disney does now can be any worse than Jar Jar FUCK OFF Binks and I wont watch any of their output anyway so meh.

That photo is brilliant though Zod. What a wanker.

Was listening to a recent RHLSTP where Peter Serafinowicz was on about his role doing the darth maul voice and the fact the film was utter toilet. Also pointed out many of the characters are fairly transparently racist. Luckily I blanked the afternoon I spent watching this film, I honestly have no memory of it, except that it was total shit.

I still think Attic of the Clowns would be a great name for a horror movie.

I don't give a shit to be honest.  I loved Star Wars when I was a kid but won't watch them now as I know I'll be disappointed (apart from Empire perhaps which was a great and grim movie).  When I was twelve I also thought the Lord of the Rings was the best book ever written.
