Derwent edge area bouldering
April 28, 2004, 10:25:26 am
As anyone done the wall mentioned as unclimbed to the right of Play Huway on the Dovestones Boulder at Derwent Edge. I'm after info for the BMC Sheff area guide.

Also do any of you know the bouldering on Dovestones Tor well who can give me a hand with documenting it?

Thanks
David Simmonite

No. It's the wall just right of the porthole. Next time I'm up I'll give a closer inspection.

It's far too far to walk !!

Neil@canaryclimbs might be able to help, I know he's been up there recently but think he's away at the moment. Failing that, apparantly Miles Gibson has done a lot of stuff up there.

I dunno - I agree that the PP is a fine problem, one of the best low grade problems in the Peak imho, but we had a right laff just messing about on other stuff up there - I'd go up there again but a five mile walk with a pad through the wind just isn't fun.

I hear the area developed by Miles is way better than the areas covered in the PBG.

yeh, the area wrote in the mags as miles' area (which he's very embarassed about   ) is really really good. park just after strines pub in obvious car park, walk up path n when u get to a t-junction, dovestones in distance on left n rocks on right, head right. doesn't look good until u're on top of it. few quality v7's n 8's, loads of quality easier stuf. area mostly covered in an old ote. a few probs bin added since. not a big area but really good for nice summers day. 40 min walk. u won't be disappointed, n if i say that it must be awesome  :D

Hey cheers guys. It's easy when you want to

Will be talking to Miles asap.

If you can think of anything else in the Derwent area it would be much appreciated.
