Greetings folks,

Well here we are with the most anticipated guide of the decade (maybe), Yorkshire Gritstone Volume One Almscliff to Slipstones has arrived in the country and is available to order at Cordee (link below). There is also a link to our Issuu site with sample pages including a sneaky peak at the aerial shots and a full list of the crags included. The guide will also be available at all good bookshops/walls/climbing shops very soon. This guide has been produced by the Yorkshire Mountaineering Club with a team of volunteers.

Looks fantastic, I'm just a bit puzzled by the divide? Is it "East"  - Vol 1 and "West" - Vol 2?

Those aerial shots are fantastic. How were they done?

Ordered.

Can't wait to get hold of this, I really should do some routes at the greatest crag in the world as there are some glaring omissions from my climbing CV!

Hi there,
The reason for the split is to have and equal number of major crags, routes, problems and new routes in each volume. This lent itself to a natural divide of NW to SE , with the A65 pretty much the dividing line (baring Rylstone/Crookrise Etc). Volume two should be near equal in size too.

OK makes sense. I supect uptake of the first volume will always be more than the second though?

Cheers,
A very generous friend of the editor is a pilot of his own hand built Sports Cruiser and we've been able to capture the major crags like never before. Simons Seat looks stunning and getting lost round Brimham will shortly be a thing of the past.

Ha, that's fortunate! I was wondering if you had something like this

...but the real thing has got to be better!

Just received my copy and from a brief flick through it looks brilliant (lack of photos of a certain pastel lemon V-neck-sporting local notwithstanding of course... ;) ) - top work!

Not when people realise that Baildon will appear in volume 2 with full colour photo topos! Proper respectful treatment at last for the best suburban crag with a Bradford postcode.
(Vol 2 should also include esoterica such as Ilkley, Widdop, Heptonstall,...)

Never diss the mighty Bank. Last time I was there someone who was climbing there gave me a few drags on his lethal homegrown DP and I had a total whitey, had to lie down for a bit and then go to the corner shop for munchies and wait for a few hours before trying to drive home. Luckily got Scar done first, great day out.
