Guides on bouldering in Sassofortino, Italy?
September 25, 2012, 01:01:20 am
Does any one know where to find any guides on bouldering in Sassofortino. I'm driving some bikes out to Tuscanny next week for a cycling holiday and would love to stop off at this famous spot for some climbing but cannot find any topos online or any guide books.

Hey, I live close and have been climbing there since the first day. I don't think there's anything left on the web. There is a small topo in an old Italian guidebook about climbing in Tuscany and Elba Island.

Getting to the boulders is easy, as the above link shows.
Sassofortino was a volcano, there's a red/white marked path that makes the tour of half of its base and then crosses the top to the other side. The boulders are spread along this path or are visible from it.
Could be well mossy now, it does not see many climbers.
If you're around in the weekend I could give you a tour, I work during the week though.
Let me know.
