I'm getting a bike
September 18, 2012, 12:15:12 pm
Hi people,

My brother in law is a keen biker and has kindly offered to build a mountain bike out of bits in his garage for me. Are there any web resources for someone new to biking to get an idea of some good routes, bike maintenance and things I don't even know about yet.

Its a hard tail bike and I am based in south west Sheffield

Cheers

http://sheldonbrown.com/articles.html is full of info, but a bit much to just read through!

Not web based, but Cycle Craft should be required reading in my opinion... it's the recommended reading for "Bikeability", the national cycle training standard.

Enjoy!

Facebook ride Sheffield group would be a good place to start meeting similar folk.

Jon Bartons books on dark peak XC Mtb have a good selection of the classic trails in the area.

Strava is useful for checking out nice local trails.

Buy vertebrate graphics books, inspiring. And as u are the target audience.. Superb. I'll give jon his credit, he sorts out stuff out for his target audience..!
