Velvet crab - Burbage
April 29, 2013, 08:42:00 am
Is the block to the left of velvet crab in to help get your foot established in the crack on the arete?  I was trying it in the snow and we were managing to hold the arete and put foot straight onto the crack/ledge but I went back yesterday and I couldn't step straight up.

Nice one, cheers.  I can put some effort into the last moves now without worrying that I've cheated the start

I still can't figure out how to do this problem

probably because I'm scared of falling off it in some random direction and hurting myself

Which part?  I Keep coming off from the top sloper on the arete when I'm trying to find something for my left.  I've fallen off that top bit a number of times now and have only left with bleeding tips

touch wood, guaranteed to break an ankle next time now

Have you got the little pocket with your left ?
Or do you mean the move after that ?

The move after that I think..... It's after the 2nd notch (thing) on the arete, my left is on the rail/or pocket which ever one I find and then I bob my right up to the highest part on the hanging arete, heel on and then I've been coming off as I've been trying to find something for my left.  I think I need to put a bit more effort in and bring my left over to the slopey looking rail.  It should just be a matter of finding something that I feel good on with my left.  I've lost so much skin on it now, everytime I pull on it I know I'm going to be in pain when I leave

I can get to the first break i.e. 2 moves in, and I don't know what to do from there.

Yes, I'm a punter

My memory is a bit vague but it seem to remember pushing with my right foot and undercutting to get past the second break if that helps?
