Climbing Posters
March 05, 2007, 07:39:51 pm
Need a/some posters to jazz up my room. Was thinking something along the lines of Neil Bentley on Equilibrium or someone else on a hard route.
Must be:
Runout to the point of sweaty palm feeling
Not be the type of poster designed for a chairmans office. You know the kind. A sport climber a foot above the last bolt with the caption "Take Risks!" underneath.

Google has failed me, will UKB?

Try to find some of the old school ones, like Phil Davidson soloing Lord of the Flies, or Jimmy Jewel soloing The Axe in the early morning night.

Cams are the work of Satan  :guilty:.  What's wrong with engineering nuts on bailing twine?

I really like that photo. You ship to Japan? I could send you money in an envelope or whatever.

Holy thread resurrection, batman!!! (This was the only relevant thread that came up with the search 'climbing posters'...)

I need some posters to liven up my garage and give me inspiration while I'm sitting slumped under the woodie. I recall back in the day many years ago before the missus moved in and demanded decorating rights my flat was plastered in the posters that came from the magazines every so often, mostly with wild country or berghaus logos over them. Inspiring pictures of splitter cracks in Utah, North Wales slate and vomit inducing desperates at Gogarth... Gresham on EOTA, McClure(?) on the Big Issue and John Dunne on some crack on the Midi stick in the mind for some reason.

So where can I find similar now (I suspect the old posters from 15+ years ago would be too much to hope for)? My magazine consumption is digital these days. I can find all the inspiring pictures in the world on Instagram, but finding somewhere where I can legitimately get the things printed out at A3 or bigger seems a little more tricky. I had a brief look on online poster stores but a lot of the pictures seem generic and quite US-centric...

Sadly CLIMB went digital and then winked out of existence, climber is all that's left print wise.

I think i have a few posters from that era in a cupboard somewhere, would need to do some digging though.

Alternatively you could buy a nice classy print instead of a cheap print poster and support a local UK climbing photographer?

http://www.adamlong.co.uk/gallery.html for example.
