See title. I want a handwarmer I can recharge from the car, but I want it to be soft enough that I can strap it on to my elbow whilst belaying/resting.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heaties-HEATIE-S-USB-Rechargeable-Handwarmer/dp/B006IALNSY/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1343722608&sr=8-13 --- this is electric but I need one that is SOFT.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Magic-Gel-Reusable-Hand-Warmer/dp/B000MU4IJ2/ref=sr_1_1?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1343723675&sr=1-1 --- this is soft and rechargeable but I need one that is ELECTRIC.

Anyone know where I can buy one that does both??

This may be a daft question but why is the second one not suitable for your needs? Get a few if you need to keep using them, they cost a few fuck-alls and weigh about the same. I have a some kicking about as we had them as as branded give-aways at work, and they work well; used them when bouldering in the cold, and sometimes winter climbing. I would send you a couple if I could find them.

What he said. You can get the single use ones too which are even smaller. Or get one of those water heaters that plus into a cigarette lighter socket and use it to boil your gel warmers, like that woman in the Beetle in the advert who can see clearly now the rain has gone.

The single use ones last all day, too. I find the boilable ones only last for the length of a route.

Cos they are recharged in boiling water, and I don't tend to take my stove to the crag. Sheesh one minute you lot are telling me to ditch the hexes I use so often the anodising is completely worn off, the next minute I'm needing to take stoves and pans to recharge a handwarmer  :tease:

The boiled ones only seem to last an hour or so, while the electric ones look to have an on/off button so could last a climbing day...

I could get disposable ones but that seems a bit wasteful.

I suspect what you are looking for doesn't exist. Hard to have something soft with a solid heating element in it surely?

And I'm sure you will tell me it's none of my business, but I would have thought if your elbows are that shot you should be using cold packs or maybe even trying to address the cause rather than just addressing the symptoms?

I say this not in a vindictive manner but out of concern that you have to go to such measures to be able to climb.

I was hoping for some kind of softness....heating wires could be pretty flexible. If it doesn't exist I will try disposables or solid rechargeables.

My elbow is tweaked but is definitely a lot better when I keep it warm. During the May heatwave I could climb for a few days solid with no tape and no pain after. If it's a cold day it stiffens up and is more painful after, hence the cunning plan of keeping it warm. And yes I'm massaging before and after exercise, icing afterwards, doing my eccentrics, avoiding the sort of powerful sidepully bouldering that aggravates it most, etc etc.

Pritch - if they did a tube-like one I could slide over my arm, that would be cool  ;) Or rather, warm

bit of lateral thinking?

just don't cut the heating element when you make holes to put your hands through.

Hah! 10-fuck-alls tho, I could get hundreds of disposables for the price.

So you want a stick to put your moon on as well?

Try Googling it, there are more likely cheaper ones.
