The 90s retroism watchout thread

OK guys it looks like its finally happening - the '90s is becoming retro:

http://www.thestar.co.uk/community/jobs-boost-as-store-returns-1-4692144

So I thought it would be good to have a thread where peeps can keep abreast of the latest developments in upcoming '90s retroism. Post up anything you may spot thats signalling the return of the 90s.

For example it could be Eclipse jackets, knobheads with curtains shaved underneath, a decent Oasis record, Sega megadrives,  Stone Monkey vests and cotton lycra, Dave Thomas, anything like that.

Off to see Stone Roses play live tomorrow - just need to find a Stussi hat, Red Filas and some disco biscuits.

I'm currently using a pair of virtually brand new pink anasazis for climbing at the moment - does that count?

The world is in danger of retro fashion catching up and overtaking today, retro will truely become sooo (only just) yesterday.

One thing that has occurred to me was that the mid-late ‘90s Britpop scene/look was always a bit of a retro ‘70s thing. So when the mid-late ‘90s becomes retro, this means that the ‘70s will be second-generation retro – has this ever happened before? Will the retro scene just cut out the middleman and jump straight back to the ‘70s and miss the ‘90s entirely? Or will it be like a tribute act to a tribute act? Will nostalgia ever be as good as it used to be?

This just looks like Shoreditch on a Thursday evening at the moment - new age fun with a vintage feel

I think he can be found at the Heeley Boulder quite regularly these days, often there Monday evenings.

Dave - there's a really good book  by Simon Reynolds called Retromania that tackles this very question.

Ok so they are post One Summer, but I am just about to say goodbye to my Boreal Matix rock boots. They have been my board only boots for the past few years and finally now the time has come to say goodbye. I thought this thread would be a fitting place for the memorial.
Total crap though, about as much toe power as could be generated by a hamster.

yes, super thin. I'm sure they were good for something, though I don't really know what that would be.

Having your feet amputated and permanently replaced with in-line skates would be better than all the current Boreal offerings.

Grace Dent covered this off pretty well in The Indie earlier in the week (the 90s revival thing as opposed to the pink lasers, clearly):

Ha, you are only saying that because Jerry wears them in Stonelove.

true dat!
well, to be honest I never climbed in them but they seemed to be a good soft shoe, my best friend and climbing partner was mad about them. I never bought them because to get my correct sizing I had to get them so small that I could not get them on through the narrow opening.
If they were on the market now, I'd buy them.
Honest guv'nor.
