Hi,

can anyone recommend a cheap campsite at zillertal, austria?
name of campsite and even address if you know it would be good.

There's a spot just before Ewige Jagrunde, not long after the Ginzling tunnel. Sorry, no name or address but it should be easy enough to find. Seemed to be popular amongst climbers.

 I don't think so. Not any more anyway. Wild camping by the stream up there used to be tolerated, but as sadly so often, numbers increased and some people had difficulty with the concept of civilised behaviour.

The campsite just outside Mayrhofen is ok but a long way from the climbing.

The only other advice I can give is to NOT skip the timings on the tunnel (no matter how tedious they become), even if some crazy local in a Calibra decides to.

I suppose if you have to drive a calibra you must have to take extreme measures to brighten your day

Last year the road on the other side of the gorge was being widened, so it may no longer be necessary to go via the tunnel.

past Monkey Island? That was being widened last time I was there which was at least 2 if not 3 years!
