What's this worth
June 05, 2012, 03:04:21 pm
Getting rid of this bike which I never ride (its been in the loft for the past three years ::) ), no idea what its likely value is.  I realise its a) old; b) not that great a bike in the first place, but if anyone with greater knowledge can suggest a price I'd be grateful (was hoping at least £100 but realise that may be a bit optomistic).

New bike.... by slack---line, on Flickr

Will be sticking it on Gumtree/Fleabay unless anyone wants to make an offer.

Alternatively is it worthwhile stripping it and selling the individual components?

Wow, that's really old, not really sure if it's worth anything much but it looks in pretty good nick.

Not worth stripping, I'd just bang it on ebay.

The picture is from 2005  :-[

But its still in damn good nick as I only rode it too and from work in Australia and its been ridden about six times in as many years (I got a more sensible commuting bike when I returned to the UK).

Fleabay it is.

Just found that myself whilst seeing what they were going for on fleabay, like you say, you never know and its just taking up space in my loft.

Yeah, you might get lucky and attract the attention of a bike collector.

Failing that I've heard that underground is spending about £1k per week on bikes at the moment so I'm sure you can convince him to buy it ;)

Thought I'd try chancing it on GumTree before auctioning on Fleabay and listed it last night at £100.

Just had a second email asking if its still available, will be chasing them up at lunch time.  :clap2:  :2thumbsup:

Just hope they're not time wasters.

Cheers Bubba & John for the input.

Quite a lot of people are into the collectable bike scene, maybe its worth a punt on one of the sites such as:

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/

It looks mint so I'm sure someone would be interested.

Not harsh... And fair.

He now has a credit card that stops working once over the drink driving limit... And times out at 21:00

Seriously there's some mad bike collector type dudes out there. That is a mint bike.

eBay it, with global postage.

Sounds like I may have been a bit hasty.  :slap:

Oh well at least I've covered the cost of the yellow fever vaccination I'm having soon with a few pints to spare. :beer2:
