Has the rain hit yet?
Any bets on dryness tomorrow (Wednesday)?

Wet and windy here in Exmouth (I can see Portland from here on a good day, not today). Not heavy yet but getting worse. Expecting sleet overnight, so don't get your hopes up...

Might have dried out by the afternoon.

Am looking at the boulders so seepage shouldn't be a problem but am starting to think tomorrow will be a bust...

Well...
The sky has cleared and the wind has dropped.
Not what was forecast...
Might be worth a look if it's not too much of a drive.
Cuttings?
Forecast is good for Friday.

Patchy cloud now and no heavy showers over night.
Plenty of blue sky at 08:00. We usually get the same weather as Portland, about an hour ahead. Should be quite good for most of today...

Well, it was crackin' today!
Blacknor was dry, cool and sunny.
Should hold for a couple days, unless it really buckets down.

Number one child (6) tried her first on rock lead in the Quarry above central...
Maybe next time. Good try though.
Top roped a few on Under Cliff and twice climbed straight past the lower off to top out (can anyone explain how that differs from leading? Climbing above the pro=lead to me, still she couldn't see it that way).

Never been  to Portland before. Will there been anything in, boulder wise at the cuttings in the next few days. Does it dry quickly after rain?
Also anyone know a good place to stay?
Cheers
Andy

Mates and I have hired out static caravans from this place before -  http://www.glencaravanpark.co.uk/. It's quite a 'local' place (but provides perfectly good accommodation by climbers' standards) and within walking distance of an even more 'local' pub. it's worth booking in advance. There are loads of camping options in Weymouth and I have even wild camped on the Portland itself before now.

Cheers for the info. Seems plenty of guest houses around as well and not too pricey.
Still thinking of heading over later today so will be out tomorrow and friday if anyone wants to boulder / sport climb.
Cheers
Andy

I was there yesterday. There is seepage in the usual places but most of the crag is ok, lots climbable. Pm me if you're looking for info on specific routes.

A recent break? In the comments on this 2010 video, the climber reckoned it felt like 7C.

I was more poking fun at the fact that the Squirrel felt it was important to let us know what grade Guy Fawkes was.

I'm just curious - seems to have had a history of breaks, with the grade going up and down?

Did it today :) Think the tendensy is for the grade to go up - or at least that is what Gaskins thought, he gave it 8a according to my friend :-\ The hold(s) that break are under the roof for the first few moves, I would guess the undercut and the side pull, everything else from the lip up is really strong limestone.

Oh and for anyone that is wondering , it was very dry today, with pretty much all of the boulder field being dry and just about all of the main crag!  ;D perfect winter venue!
