London Climbing Walls
January 27, 2020, 08:21:51 pm
Can anyone recommend which climbing wall I should visit in London? Ideally:

- Close to Stratford, Kensington or the City
- Unlikely to be absolutely rammed after 6pm
- More technical/steep climbing than comp style, or with a good board

Mile End seems like it might fit the bill?

TIA

My go to wall at the moment is the Stronghold at Tottenham Hale. It is pretty spacious with decent setting and never seems to be ridiculously busy compared to the other walls. It may be a bit further than the areas you mentioned but if you can get on the Victoria Line quite quickly it won't really take that long to get up there and it is worth the extra time IMO.

I like Ravenswall, might not be steep enough for you but there is a Moonboard. Easy to get to from Kensington, just nip round on the District Line.

Thanks for the recommendations. Went to Ravenswall and enjoyed it. Good setting in the main part of the wall and the Beastmaker board is brilliant. Nice to be out in the open air in particular (and I was the only one on it).

An outside board? Or just not in a dingy hole?

Yep, under plastic type cover but otherwise outside. Really quite cool (and good cons last night, made me wonder why everyone was inside as it was boiling in there).

Sounds about right! I've been moaned at in London for opening the door at one wall on a warm spring evening when  peeps were sitting on the grass drinking beer outside the pub..
