Any dry limestone in the north of britain?
February 17, 2012, 03:29:38 pm
Weather looks great for Sunday, unfortunately it's rubbish at the moment.  Anybody got any thoughts on somewhere for some dry, sunny sport climbing in the 7s?  Malham sounds like its in pretty poor nick, I assume Raven Tor is soaked, any hope for anywhere else in Yorkshire, Peak or Wales?

I know it'll probably be good bouldering conditions but I've got a trip to Spain in 4 weeks and would like to get on rope.

Is Dinbren area not a better bet? Less seepage and more likely to be dry.

Trollers gill may well tick the box Ian - It sits under a small hillock which holds little in the way of potential seepage, a micro-sponge if you will. Great for 7's, but only gets the sun until middayish so warm-up early. Report conditions back here if you do go, and enjoy your Spanish trip.  :)

Stoney and Beeston Tor are maybe the best winter limestone sport crags in the peak.
