Culloden near the Tor
March 02, 2012, 03:17:03 pm
If anybody knows who made a mess round here please tell them to pack it in.
The BMC have seen it and are quite concerned.
Do not put down searchable terms of land owners or trusts as this could cause future access issues.
It is no NT land.

Load of ivy has been pulled off, along with a fair bit of rock. Messy. Looks fairly pointless form a climbing perspective too.

Good effort today Kris - sounds like you got a decent result from a pretty negative starting position.

Just been on the phone to Hot Henry Folkard and he wanted to reinforce the point here that any heavy-handed activity like this in Water-cum-Jolly at the minute could jepordise access there.

I assume some idiots were trying to develop new route/problem potential?

I was not trying to give too much away with regards to the kind of mess :shit:. The person responsible for the dastardly deed will hopefully see the error of their ways.
I have done my fair bit of ivy pulling over the years but you need to hide the evidence, by not dumping it in large piles by the footpath.
Ivy is a bit of a weed and is taking over some of the out of Vogue crags. Unfortunately the dxrbyshxre  wxxxdlife trxst don't care about geology and are keen to let the stuff creep in and provide a nesting habitate and get very pissed when it has been removed.

Keep an eye out for new restriction that will come into effect down WCJ. Info will be posted soon.
