A Thread dedicated to all those great albums you discover or rediscover this year, at the moment it's this. Royal Trux - cats and dogs. Like Dinosaur jr listening to exile on main street.

After choosing to watch This Is England rather than Engerland the other night and hearing this

I bought the album and it's been on repeat at home and in the car since.  Awesome soulful ska.

Super! The problem with listening to Ska is that after that everything else sounds wrong. I spent most of last year with the Trojan Ska and Rocksteady box sets on continuous rotation.

After reading through the 2010 Albums thread I bought the Dangermouse/Sparklehorse album and the MAssive Attack one - both of which I'm enjoying muchly.

Which one there are 69 so far.

Ages ago HMV were selling tripple box sets (9 CD's) for about four quid, grabbed quite a few back then and have a few of the others but nowhere near the full set.

Aye, you get some overlap between box sets but not masses and they're great value for money.

So far I've got...

Dub
Dub vol2
D.J.
Singles
Soulful
X-Rated
Club Reggae
Rare Groove
Rocksteady
Roots
Dancehall
Rastafari
Ganja Reggae

Just something to cheer you up with that depressing Glastonbury bill. And the threads been a bit.. :tumble:

Obviously you really need this on CD or even vinyl if it exists.

I've always been a big Johnny Cash fan, but only recently heard this album, not withstanding that it has probably one of the worst covers ever, every song is a gem.

like this...

Johnny Cash, Johnny Reb
