the 1 is nice to have as the photo format works well and it has nice pics/texts.
drawbacks:
-a few mistakes (eg line a gets the name and grade of line b) or odd grades.
-maps are a big step behind 7+8 and even a tad worse than the old off-piste godoffe. But that's somehow compensated by the pic-based format.
overall i can't really say it's up to how you like your guidebooks. I currently own no guidebook but if i had to i'd go for 7+8, being quite a map geek
(it also depends on whether or not you have an iphone to check line and starting holds on bleau.info???
