Wrong! I've taken a step back from "punter", but "Plaid" = "tartan" pron "plad".

Now in Wales, "Plaid" = pron "plyed"


(Unless I'm so pissed already I''ve missed the point. In which case - OK. I'm quite happy to lead with the chin.)

Clearly the "plad" pronunciation isn't universal.

It's probably owned by a Home Counties incomer who thinks it's t'airbly amusing and knows nothing about the correct pronouciation...
