The problem seems to be either tendon shortening and/or ligament weakness, as my DIP joint won't bend backwards at all
Do you crimp at all when actually climbing?

I would've thought that the old advice of "do as much as you can up the point of slight discomfort"
What was the final diagnosis and have you asked anyone professional what to do about this?
Is there a limitation to the flexing, ie pad coming closer to the palm, as well as extending?
