Sport routes for boulderers
July 05, 2013, 09:36:07 pm
So, after a conversation I had with a mate the other day; I wanted to make a thread for bouldering friendly sport climbing.

I would have posted something on the other channel, but I would prefer a sensible perspective.

Have you got any suggestions for 3 to 8 bolt, power hungry routes?

Things like all the stuff at the right hand end of the Tor, Rubicon, Turkey Dip and so forth.

Is anyone keen for this kind of bouldery routes?

What grade range you talking?

In the 7b+-8a range:
Wild In Me
Rattle n Hump
Out Of My Tree
Out Of My Boots
Pump Up The Power
Chimes
Green Alternative
Weedkiller
Fossil Wall
Beginners Wall
Too Old To Be Bold
Dangerous Brothers
Tribes
Salar
This Is The Sea
Step On It
Eat The Rich
Mandy

I was also going to say Sturgeon and Stone The Loach but they are a bit longer than the above, both great though.

Not sure exactly what my top grade is at the moment.
I have only just started getting into some sport.
I could do all the moves on Rubicon easily at 7a, but I doubt that is a good example of 7a.

That list looks like where I should be heading to start improving, which is wicked.
Cheers

Pretty much everything on Beginners Wall (on the way into Raven Tor from the Buxton end).

Harry Tuttle,Heating Engineer 7b+ at the G-Spot,Giggleswick South.Three bolts to the lower off. Very short, basically a bloc with clips. Whilst you're there,Militia 8a+ is worth a look.Or at Hollywood Bowl just up the road, Second's Choice 7a is another three clip job. The Sound Of One Hand Slapping 7c is only five clips IIRC,and very bouldery.

+1 for beginners wall and fossil wall at blackwell dale in general, if i remember rightly they're really short routes and at least one of them had only one or two hardish moves on it.
