HTC HD2 got wet....
August 26, 2011, 07:53:21 pm
and now it's dried out the screen is very, very dim  If I view it under a spotlight onto it I can just about make out enough to make out the shadows of high contrast screens but it's hard going on the eyes.
I've turned the backlight up to full and tried recalibrating the screen to no avail.
I realise this could be the first of many issues but has anyone experienced similar or have any ideas?

 :please:

you're best bet would be to sell it on ebay as faulty/water damaged and buy another one.
Generally phone+water=fubar

<Long shot>
Watched the Gadget Show dude water damage test a few phones a few years back. Took them apart as much as possible with a T4(?) screwdriver and dried them out without using direct heat. Mixed results but a couple seemed to work alright after.

Airing cupboard is a common suggestion.

At the very least you might get away with replacing the screen, but thats quite fiddly for this phone.
If you do do this you don't know what other problems you might have

cheers for the suggestions guys, I'm going to try putting it in a sealed container with some rice, apparently the rice absorbs any residual moisture and if it doesn't work after that it is fubared and heading for ebay.

Was just about to chime in on the rice ting - it was mentioned on a Radio 4 comedy programme the other night!

Could try mixing some silica gel in with the rice.

Into a bag of rice and then into an airing cupboard or similar.  It doesn't always work but I know a few people who have saved theirs that way.

I fairly certain it won't bring the screen back to life tho. definately needs a new screen if nothing else.
they can be had fairly cheaply on ebay
