You still owe me a rock 9 to replace the one that you left behind when you fell off Flying Buttress Direct in 1996.

Send me one of your spares and no one need know about your shameful HVS failure.

Yep

I lent you my rack for the day and you blobbed off FBD and twatted your ankle on the bottom slab (think you asked some random punter to belay you). You did return the rest of the rack though, so it's not all true what they say about you.

18 minutes from offer > flea-bay.

Have emailed someone who might be interested and pointed them at the thread, but they're at work (and work out of the office) so may not look at the thread until this evening.

I'll do a swap with you. All your gear for a couple of pairs of Jasper's trainers. He can buy them back off you when he's got the cash so it doesn't matter if they don't fit you. Jasper will get a signed copy of my next book and a POD beer towel. Everyone's a winner!

Does anyone know if/when Idol Eyes/Pat King is likely to be back onshore? And more importantly, is he trustworthy?

The problem is that he's sent me a pair of 8.4mm half ropes (described here which I don't need and wouldn't have bought if I'd known) instead of the pair of 9.5mm singles I thought I was getting.
The last time we spoke he agreed there had been a mistake, we'd sort something out and he'd call me back, but that was almost a month ago now and despite trying to get hold of him a few times he's not gotten back to me.

I'd just sell the ropes on but there's no way I can recoup the money I gave him by selling on the ropes I now have, so unless he does the decent thing then I'm out of pocket by a fair amount.

I got the idea he was leaving the country, see earlier post;

I'd recommend contecting the Pat King Debt Collection Agency.

:agree: A friend was inquiring about the rack and Idol Eyes is off to Oz (think he's gone now).

Caveat emptor!

Bollocks, is this a common theme then?

I'd read he was leaving, I didn't realise it was so soon.

I don't think he's left the country yet, he was still trying to sell his surfboards last week.

Why not? Your link lists the new price of the 8.4mm as only £10 less than the 9.4mm.

So he is just ignoring me then?

Would you pay £200 for a pair of 3 year old used half ropes? You can buy new, dry treated ones for that money.

He'd replied yes when I asked if he was selling these, which helpfully come in the same colours as the ropes I now have.
Yes, I do feel like an idiot and the old adage "if it's too good to be true..." still holds.

Pretty much the conclusion my mate came to with regards to the other gear that was for sale.

And if I'd known exactly what I was getting I wouldn't have bothered either.

Thanks Jasper  :-[ :slap:
