I was reminded the other day (after hearing a poor cover) to listen to some Third World. Actually sounded a lot worse than I remembered! Guess some reggae has to sound dated too, probably the first reggae band I ever remember listening to.

I have to agree, I picked up a Third World LP at a car-boot sale and it's definitely aged badly, in a way that a lot of 60s/ early 70s stuff hasn't. Luckily only cost a coupla quid.

How has this thread not been graced by the Slickers?

The amazing Derick Morgan link from pg1 don't work anymore, this isn't quite the whole thing, but is hopefully better then nowt:

Forgot all about this thread again!

Great stuff! Nice soundtrack to the morning.

Have a bit of Matthew NcAnuff (RIP) - Only found this tune recently when a selecta played in on a radio show I was guesting on... So good! (only problem is that now I want the 7" so bad and the cheapest i can find it is £80!!)

tune - it says no trumpets, but I can clearly hear trumpets... oh wait, it means...

just remembered that we can use youtube playlists instead of paying for Spotify

this thread will be compiled into just such a list

Bit hesitant to post this, but 1) Eddie Murphy can sing... and 2) Snoop in any format and under any moniker still has talent...

Been listening to a lot of Ras G at the moment.  Not quite dub, nor hip-hop nor spiritual Jazz.... very good though.  Sort of Lee Perry meets Sun Ra meets Moodymann and leftfield hip-hop.

Good intro here from the best online music magazine The Quietus.
