Which fingerboard?
June 09, 2011, 02:39:06 pm
Looking to buy a fingerboard, finally, after using a BM2k and really seeing the benefits!

Any advice one which one to go for, and why?

They are the best, and British!

Just realised, on reflection, that that wasn't the most helpful.

I've used: Moon, Beastmaker (Owned), Holdz(Owned) and Metolius Simulator. in my opinion, then BM2K is much better because it is more skin friendly (I can cope with a 1.5hr session no worries, whereas the Holdz one chewed up my skin - Moon is OK.). It is more tendon friendly due to the shape of the holds. And it has a better range of holds for progression. (Progressive slopers, progressive pockets.)

Hope that helps.

Just wondered if anyone preferred / used anything other than BM2k as that's the only one I've tried :)

Yes it does, thank you! The material does seem very skin friendly whilst still having a good amount of friction.

Much difference between the 1k and the 2k? Think I'll go for the 2k.

BM2K.
the best for all the above. I've used many others for many years before I saw the light.

Good choice, I see you're located in Staffs, if you wanted to 'try before you buy' and don't mind a trip to Manchester then the Rockover Wall has both 1k and 2k in the training area upstairs.

I climb about 7a to 7a+ and a bit more on a good day with a tail wind etc.. Ad I have a 1k and 2k. I actually prefer the 1k, I find it alot easier to warm up on the Smallness of the holds/difficulty is fine for me now.. I really like the 2k, but find it a bit harder to 'get into' if that makes sense.. Those 1k love jugs at the ends are great for cranking out some final pull ups when your fingers are mullahed..

They're both great and head and shoulders above anything else I've used before so go for it...
