Anybody know whether you can get a train from the airport ? or do you have to get a taxi or somat to Paris de Lyons ? if so how much/far ?

to be honest, and as i discovered last year, CDG is not the best place to fly to for Font. We ended up hiring a motor and regretted it, especially when some bleeder tried to break into it in the car park of Carrefour!

I don't know who flies there but Aeroport D'orly is way better as it's on the southern edge of Paris right on the N7 (if i remember rightly), so you'd avoid the hassle / entertainment of the peripherique.

CDG is quite a trek from Font, I've got mates who we dropped off at Fontainebleau station, they got back OK by train so I guess you'd be OK to do it by rail. Just make sure you leave a bit of breathing space, my mates missed their flight despite a 3 hour gap between Font station and their flight leaving.

I'd say your last option would be a taxi - it's about 45 mins(?) from CDG so it'd be well pricey.

post it up if you find out, cos I can't find anyone. easyjet or ryanair or someone fly out of there, but not to it as far as i know. It's well easy to get to font from there.

Easyjet seem to go to Orly. What's the beta on that place? Is there a decent car hire there?

Ive just booked with Sleazy to CDG, but we have car hire waiting there. Isnt the airport south of Paris?

word. the drive from CDG is a mare...that said I've just got tickets booked, £40 round trip to CDG so I'll be in the same boat as everyone else.

So, on a parallel tip, anyone know any cheap car hire firms?

Is the drive *that* bad? It's only a quick trip around the 'phrique and a bit of motorway innit?

Is the:

drive to airport/park/check in/fly/collect baggage/pick up hire car/drive to Font

method significantly quicker than the

drive to Dover/get ferry/drive to font method?

Never had a problem with it myself.

Always flown. Got the bags quickly (apart from usual delay as some poor sod wheels the pads up to us on a trolly 'cos they're oversized), picked up the hire car, and drove down. Normally within an hour or so.

Being in London and going from Gatwick it normally takes probably a max of 5 hours door to door. Which is much quicker than the drive all the way/ferry option.
