If you plotted them as a cumulative from when the first 8c was climbed then you would get a nice indication of whether there has been the same number if people coming through each year to climb 8c or if there had been an increase/spurts etc.. You'd need to know when someone first climbed 8c though...

Bet there are 100's of French climbers who have climbed 8c in France, but not so many have climbed 8c in France and in the UK!!!! Same goes for all those Spainish beasts too.

Better still convert it to an incidence rate of number of climbers who have climbed 8c per 1000 climbers or even per 100000 of the general population, because trying to compare raw numbers is meaningless if you don't account for the differences in population size (although France and the UK have roughly similar population sizes, Spain is a few tens of millions behind) and the proportion of the populace in each country that climb will vary.
