How much do Miura's stretch??
May 30, 2011, 10:13:42 pm
I was looking to get a pair of La Sportiva Miura lace up's as they are a really good fit for my feet.

After looking at reviews on different websites people have said that they stretch LOADS. I have tried on a 8.5 which seems pretty damn snug, but how many sizes below do i need to go to compensate for the amount of streching?? :-\

Any advice would be great.

Also, i have narrow and flat feet. are there any other shoes that would fit my feet well?

I've heard Miura stretch a lot indeed and some folks size them dropping even 4 sizes.

This might be helpful Rock Shoe Sizing Guide

I have the VS versions (Velcro). They do give a bit, but not excessively. They seem to have a little more longevity than my mates Katanas.

I have slightly narrow feet and they fit well.

Best shoe i've had.

Unless they've changed a lot from the originals, I found they don't stretch a huge amount. I've always found Sportiva's sizing to be very large though, so I have to go down in size a lot more than for other boots. From size 45/46ish street shoes, I was always 44.5 in FiveTen, 43.5 in Scarpas and 42.5 in Miura and MiuraVS (half size smaller in Katanas, which stretch a fair bit). Great shoes though - particularly the VS.

These are the kind of replys that i have been getting previously, from both ends of the spectrum.
some people saying they stretch stupidly and others saying they hardly do at all, which makes it hard to find an inbetween.

but im thankful for all the advice i can get, cheers guys!

well no, you've had two first hand accounts saying they don't sretch much and another from someone who's heard they stretch a quite unbelievable amount and who might be getting confused with them being sized strangely, eg miura 4=5.10 6.5.  I'd believe the guys who have a pair.

To add some confusion I wear a 41 in trainers and and a 38 in Miuras. However, if I was buying another I get either a 38.5 or a 39 due to how painful the 38s were to start with.

To add some clarity to the conversation - try before you buy, buy snug fitting. enjoy.

They stretch a fair amount, I must say... I wear a 42.5-43 street shoe size, have the Miura (lace) in 39.5 and VS in 40... both amazing shoes for me

If I were you, Tilsley, I wouldn't get them.

You'll just spend the whole time regretting that you aren't wearing these.
