Bouldering in Tiree.
April 13, 2011, 10:48:14 pm
I've got a meeting up on Tiree next week. I've got a meeting for about an hour on Wednesday, but due to ferries (or lack of), I'm on the island until 18.00 on the Thursday.  Does anyone have any knowledge of bouldering on the island (or fancy hooking up?).

The place looks lush, and I have heard tales of granite... it would be a shame to mince around running etc.  If not, anyone know of any other ways to get off  the island quicker (the flights from Glasgow don't fit in to well with things (early morning flight off on Tuesday).  Flights from Edinburgh?

Anything here would help!  Cheers, Chris.

Not got access to Youtube from work, but I am pretty certain someone posted a vid up on the other channel of some bouldering there, will see if I can find it.

edit

You could try getting in touch with that Andy Spink guy and asking details? I have no idea where any of it is.

Curious as I spend a fair bit of time north of the border I did a quick Google and the web page where the video is from has link but it doesn't work - DNS error  :furious:

Kev Howett at MCoS is mine of info on bouldering and may be able to point you at someone who can provide beta - I'll try and dig out his email addy. There's also John Watson who wrote the Scottish bouldering guide and is creating an updated version, if you can get hold of him  will see what I can find

Cheers - will follow the links.  I watched the UTube thing - looks okay, but I had heard rumors of decent granite over here.

I'll try Mr Watson.  Thanks again.

Hello :)

If my memory serves me correctly there is some good bouldering on the south-west flange/peninsula (west side, just beyond/south of the long beach). I don't remember how long the walk in was as we were on bikes for a week, it's all merged into one. Bike+sand dune=lots of fun :) . Another point would be tides- which I have no idea about...
Sorry for the MASSIVE vagueness,it was a few years ago.
