Every single bumpy road and uneven footpath will be brought up to standard

Thank god for that. I tried to take my Lambo over Houndkirk the other day and it was a right bloody mess.

This is great, but I bet you any money they do the major roads first before the minor roads.

Then when they're half-way through finishing the minor roads the major roads will be crumbling again as they see more traffic and the remaining minors won't get finished (bit like painting the Firth Bridge).

If its done the other way round the minor roads get repaired and last longer as they have less traffic, and there's a possibility for having all the roads to a decent standard.

Forth Bridge?

Anyway...

Quote from: Wikipedia
"Painting the Forth Bridge" is a colloquial expression for a never-ending task, coined on the erroneous belief that, at one time in the history of the bridge repainting was required and commenced immediately upon completion of the previous repaint.[16] According to a 2004 New Civil Engineer report on modern maintenance, such a practice never existed, although under British Rail management, and before, the bridge had a permanent maintenance crew.

 its indeed the bridge over the Firth of the Fourth to which I was alluding (although I was using the colloquial rather than factual expression, as I knew it wasn't accurate, next time I'll use Sisyphus' punishment for such an analogy).

I've no objection to that, and openly admit when I'm wrong. I would be a hypocrite otherwise.

Bastards, you don't know how lucky you are in Sheffield, Glasgow is more pothole than road (yes, including the motorways), the rollercoaster 3rd world dirt tracks that masquerade as main routes make Sheff's roads look like the M6 toll.... :furious:

Who do I tell that needs doing first?

No my road needs doing first - Rundle Road, S7.

Now I can consider buying a new carbon road bike - well in about 5 years when it's finished.
